Teachers area introduction

Climate Lab forms part of the National Marine Aquarium’s contribution to the EU-funded PENCIL project. This project links science centres, schools and academic institutions across Europe and will result in the establishment of a Permanent Resource Centre for Informal Learning. Further details of the PENCIL project, the outputs from partner institutions and a huge range of teaching resources and communities can be accessed through www.xplora.org.

This site is aimed at 9-14 year olds with core curriculum links to geography, science and citizenship.

It’s a fun and interactive way of helping younger people appreciate the importance of reducing the effects of climate change before it’s too late. It aims to explain the pivotal role the oceans play in climate change, while simultaneously empowering individual students to take action to minimise the devastating effects of global warming. The site is also designed to be a teaching resource. Climate change can be used to teach geography, citizenship and science as well as ESD, numeracy and literacy. On this page, you will find a range of project ideas which use climate change as a spring board for discussion, investigation and learning. Each project idea is designed so you will have facts, ideas and resources at your fingertips when planning lessons.
