Carbon footprint

Measuring our impact on the environment

What is a carbon footprint

A carbon footprint is a measure of the effect you have on the climate.

Everything from fridges to cars produce greenhouse gases.

Your carbon footprint shows the total amount of greenhouse gases you produce measured in units of carbon dioxide — CO2.

One of the main reasons the climate is changing and ocean temperatures rising is the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide is created naturally, but we are adding to it by burning the carbon in oil as a fuel.

We are all using more fuel than we really need, so one way of helping save the oceans from warming is to reduce the amount of carbon we burn up.

What can we do to help?
